    Get PDF
Strategic planning plays an important role in helping the organization to achieve success. Efficiency and effectiveness of strategic planning can be improved by using information technology that speed up the process. Although quite a number of softwares exist in strategic planning, none of them is comprehensive enough especially in the area of assessment in strategic planning. Assessment is an initial part to recognize the current position of an organization and situational analysis is used to generate conclusions. These conclusions are needed in planning the business objectives. Therefore, this research developed a simulation model and assessment software system that represents the actual working procedures and assessment process of strategic planning. Two analytical methods, Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) Matrix and Strategic Position and Action Evaluation (SPACE) Matrix, are used in the model and system. Both matrixes enable users to make selection of attributes and place weight/rating based on their organization current situations. Calculations and matching suggest the most appropriate strategy that an organization should implement to gain success in strategic planning. This research tests the model and system, collects the relevant data, analyze it and produce results that conclude what managers do in making analysis and conclusions in assessment. Usability testing is carried out to test the usability of the system from the aspect of usefulness, effectiveness, leamability and likability

    Get PDF
Nowadays, software effort estimation plays an important role in software project management due to its extensive use in industry to monitor progress, and performance, determine overall productivity and assist in project planning. After the success of methods such as IFPUG Function Point Analysis, MarkII Function Point Analysis, and COSMIC Full Function Points, several other extension methods have been introduced to be adopted in software projects. Despite the efficiency in measuring the software cost, software effort estimation, unfortunately, is facing several issues; it requires some knowledge, effort, and a significant amount of time to conduct the measurement, thus slightly ruining the advantages of this approach. This paper demonstrates a functional size measurement tool, named UML Point tool, that utilizes the concept of IFPUG Function Point Analysis directly to Unified Modeling Language (UML) model. The tool allows the UML eXchange Format (UXF) file to decode the UML model of mobile game requirement and extract the diagrams into component complexity, object interface complexity, and sequence diagram complexity, according to the defined measurement rules. UML Point tool then automatically compute the functional size, effort, time, human resources, and total development cost of mobile game. Besides, this paper also provides a simple case study to validate the tool. The initial results proved that the tool could be useful to improve estimation accuracy for mobile game application development and found to be reliable to be applied in the mobile game industry

Public confidence is a concept that underpins the entire system of policing. The police force is constantly at risk of losing public confidence, due to a range of factors including falling levels of police visibility. Recent studies indicate increased interest in sentiment analysis research, especially in social media. Sentiment analysis research is a useful tool for analysing the public’s perception of police misconduct as expressed in social media. Therefore, this study will be an attempt to improve the methods used by police organisations to improve public confidence in the police

Cosmic FPA Calculator for Mobile Application Development Cost Based on Unity3D Game Engine

    Get PDF
The emergence technology and popularity of mobile game application has led to higher demands in producing more colorful game environment, interactive design and selecting targeted platforms. To fulfil these requirements, mobile game engine; a framework to create mobile game application should provide greater complexity and parameters to be added in the mobile game properties. Thus, the effort costing of mobile application development is difficult to be estimated accurately. Therefore, this mobile game requirement is a new software concept that still needs to be tested properly to match the existing estimation models as these models are invented before the emergence of mobile application requirements. Hence, the motivation is to adapt COSMIC Functional Size Measurement (COSMIC FSM) for sizing the mobile game application development as it is one of the estimation models suitable to sizing embedded software and real-time system. This research uses Unity3D game engine as the platform to represent the mobile game requirements. These requirements are illustrated in the form of component diagrams and class diagrams in order to order to maintain and control the behavior of Unity3D features. The functional processes from component diagrams and class diagrams are captured to be used later in the sizing process using COSMIC FSM from the mapping between UML based-COSMIC FSM rules and measurement. A tool, COSMIC FPA Calculator for Mobile Application is developed to demonstrate the COSMIC FSM counting process for mobile game application costing

E-mail can be a fantasy playground for identity experimentations where players take on an imaginary persona and interact with each other in the virtual world. Therefore. gender deception is difficult. risky and it can be abandoned at will. Inference can be made both from writing style and from clues hidden in the posting data. A text-mining algorithm was designed to detect gender deception based on gender-preferential features at the word or clause level of Malaysian e-mail users. Based on this algorithm. a prototype in Visual Basic is developed It was tested with /6 documents; each consists of 5 e-mails exchanges of respective individuals. The tests shown the prototype have 8/.3% of accuracy level. This is consistent with a human reader of the documents. This prototype can be a tool to assist interested parties such as the Criminology and Forensic Department. e-mail users and virtual communities to successfully identify gender deception

Software cost estimation (SCE) has been an important but difficult task since the beginning of the computer era. It considers list of parameters to estimate accurately the software cost. However, security cost is always excluded in most of the parametric cost estimation models. It is because of the security aspect is normally considered late in the software development. To overcome this problem, we proposed an enhancement to one of the parametric estimation models, which is function point analysis (FPA), to address the security concerns. The enhancement suggests potential software security characteristics during system development life cycle (SDLC). These characteristics are then integrated into FPA calculation to encounter the security cost estimation. This paper also points to the validation of a survey findings and calibration of the FPA calculation

Software cost estimation is a complex activity that requires knowledge of a number of key attributes about the project for which the estimate is being constructed. Nevertheless, security is becoming more and more important in most of the software construct. Reviews on several widely recognized parametric estimation models found the insufficient of current estimation in software security costing. Comparison of common security standards successfully highlighted software security characteristics to be considered in cost estimation. A survey based on the rating of these characteristics has been conducted. Analysis results from RASCH have validated the relative importance of these characteristics based on Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) software developers perspective. These validated characteristics are then extended the calculation and implemented in a Function Point Analysis prototype. The paper also points to the steps of calibrating the calculation through this prototype by conducting controlled experiments

In Malaysia, during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the negative impact on mental health became noticeable. The public's psychological and behavioral responses have risen as the COVID-19 outbreak progresses. A high impression of severity, vulnerability, impact, and fear was the element that influenced higher anxiety. Social media data can be used to track Malaysian sentiments in the COVID-19 era. However, it is often found on the internet in text format with no labels, and manually decoding this data is usually complicated. Furthermore, traditional data-gathering approaches, such as filling out a survey form, may not completely capture the sentiments. This study uses a text mining technique called Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) on social media to discover mental health topics during the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, a model is developed using a hybrid approach, combining both lexicon-based and Naïve Bayes classifier. The accuracy, precision, recall, and F-measures are used to evaluate the sentiment classification. The result shows that the best lexicon-based technique is VADER with 72% accuracy compared to TextBlob with 70% accuracy. These sentiments results allow for a better understanding and handling of the pandemic. The top three topics are identified and further classified into positive and negative comments. In conclusion, the developed model can assist healthcare workers and policymakers in making the right decisions in the upcoming pandemic outbreaks
